France is ideal destination for motorhome rental holiday because of the rich history, amazing food culture, great natural resources and strong cultural environment.

Drive around different regions and discover new things as you go from cathedrals to Gothic churches and private castles. Its good to reserve enough time for a motorhome holiday in France because the variety of things to see is truly immense. 

1. Motorhome rental adventure begins

As a Touring Cars customer, you will be provided with a free of charge airport transfer so just arrange your flights and meet our welcoming staff member at the airport terminal. Your rental starts with a complete orientation to your motorhome and soon you´ll be ready to start your amazing journey.

Before leaving from city of Nantes, we suggest that you ´ll follow the “Voyage to Nantes”, a journey of about 40 steps between monuments, historic alleys and other hidden gems of the city. This is a great opportunity to discover the city in a unique way and get your first contact to French culture and customs. 

First night in your elegant rental motorhome is probably exciting but our state-of-the-art rental motorhomes are all easy to use and handle. You are also provided with a 24/7 telephone number to your rental station for any questions you may have so just enjoy the high quality accommodation and luxurious camping experience. 

 

 

2. Stunning castles of the Loire

One of the must to do in things in France is to explore some of the amazing castles this wonderful area offers. One of the best places to start your castle tour is the castle of Saumur located 155 km (1h45) from Nantes. Only 15 km from Saumur, is the Abbey of Fontevraud, another impressive castle to visit. Fontevraud is actually one of the largest monastic cities in Europe so its not just one castle to see here. On your way towards Chambord, its worth making one more stop at Château d'Amboise which is conveniently on the way. Once you reach Chambord pay a visit to one more castle, the largest of the entire Loire Valley; Château de Chambord. Its also the only royal domain still intact since its creation so it has truly interesting history to tell. 

 

 

3. Architecture and waterslides in La Rochelle - 315 km (3:15)

Waking up relaxed and enjoying french breakfast with croissants and fresh coffee in the comfort of your well equipped rental motorhome; this is the morning of your third day. Today´s drive is slightly longer so take your time and enjoy your morning. When you´re ready, fasten your seat belts and head to the millennial city of La Rochelle endowed with a natural heritage and exceptional french architecture. After the drive you can enjoy a moment of relaxation on one of many terraces of the port area or even enjoy a cruise around the famous Fort Boyard.

This area has many high quality camping sites to choose from. If you´re having your motorhome rental adventure with children you may want to surprise them by choosing one of the aquatic complexes with heated pools and waterslides. 

 

 

4. Theme park of Puy du Fou - 117 km (1h40)

If the children still have energy left from yesterdays active day in a water park head your rental motorhome to Puy du Fou. This theme park is located in the Vendée area, a short drive from La Rochelle.  This truly unique theme park is ranked as one of the best theme parks in the world! It is a place where you can truly feel taking trip back in time, live unforgettable moments full of emotions and learn the history on the way.

 

 

5. Island of Noirmoutier - 145 km (2h)

After two super active days, have a long morning and enjoy the comfort of your luxurious cold foam mattresses in your rental motorhome. Set the camping table outside the motorhome and have luxurious brunch outside while enjoying the warm breeze and iconic french scenery.  When camping set is packed back to the rental motorhome hit the road again and head to Island of Noirmoutier, approximately 2 hours drive away from your current location.

The Island of Noirmoutier is located in the Bay of Biscay and its an ideal place to enjoy the nature and relax in calmness. Noirmoutier island is actually nicknamed Mimosa owing to its mild climate. This true piece of heaven offers a variety of landscapes; salt marches, dunes, forests… One particularly interesting place to see is the submersible pavement "Le Passage du Gois", that is well known and popular attraction for both tourists and locals. 

 

 

6. Day at the seaside - La Baule-Escoublac - 90 km (1h30) / Guérande

This day is for exploring the bay of La Baule, a stunning ribbon of fine sand of a length of 9 km. This area is characterised by the villas with unique and original architecture. The renowned seaside resorts that form this bay (Pornichet, La Baule, Le Pouliguen) are considered as one of the "most beautiful bays of the world "! If you want to add some cultural elements to your day visit the medieval city of Guérande with rich history and amazing architecture just 10 min drive away from the fine sands. Guérande is located on the beautiful peninsula surrounded by water and salt marshes. Have a cup of authentic Café au Lait in a small local café in some of the small side alleys and feel the authentic France. 

7. Amazing Gulf of Morbihan - 70 km (1h)

The Gulf of Morbihan is an inland sea, dotted with islands and islets. This South Brittany´s primary tourist destination is a wonderful amalgam of land and sea. The gastronomy of this area and its landscapes will dazzle you.

 

 

 

8. Paradise of the pink granite coast - 180 km (2h35)

Located in the Côtes-d'Armor, the Côte de Granite Rose, literally "pink granite coast" in Breton, extends over 10 km. Hiking lovers will find this place as one of the highlights of this journey so please remember to pack your sneakers for your motorhome holiday. On top of  the amazing sights of this area, the archipelago here provides home for many very rare bird species. So if you´re keen on birds, this could be your paradise.  Beautiful cities around this area such as Perros-Guirrec, Trégastel and Trébeurden are also worth visiting.

9. The marvel of the west; Mont Saint Michel - 165 km (2 hours)

Start your visit to the Mont Saint-Michel bay by making a stop in Saint Malo. Stroll on the ramparts and take a break on the terrace of a creperie!

Continue to the Mont Saint Michel, located 50km away from Saint Malo. This granitic rocky island classified as a World Heritage, is also called the Marvel of the West. In the heart of a huge bay, stands an impressive Romanesque abbey welcoming people to get wowed. During your ascent to the summit, take the opportunity to discover the shops and stop at one of the many terraces with a great view of the bay.

 

 

10. The D-day landing beaches - 410 km (4:15) / Etretat

The D-Day Landings were the most vital part of the greater operation to liberate Europe from years of German military occupation. Normandy possesses 5 beaches used during the landing of June 6, 1944. If you are passionate of history, plan a stop at the Utah Beach and Omaha Beach (American sector) as well as Gold Beach, Juno Beach and Sword Beach (Anglo-Canadian sector). Area has also many other sites worth paying a visit like the Pointe du Hoc, the battery of Longues-sur-Mer or the artificial harbor of Winston Churchill. After this interesting day full of history and culture, continue towards Etretat (1h40). This small seaside area full of charm is known for these ribs of Alabaster and its beach of gray pebbles.

 

 

Although there would be so much more to see and places to visit its time to head back to Touring Cars motorhome rental station in Nantes. On the way back to Touring Cars rental station, you can make make a last quick stop at the 24H circuit of Le Mans, or Château d'Angers where you can also have your last local treats as well.
