TOP 5 SIGHTS IN ESTONIA
1. Rummu quarry
This unique sight is just outside Tallinn and is easily reachable by rental camper. This old quarry is now partially under water, making it not only one of the best beaches in Estonia, but also perfect for scuba diving. Park your rental camper and spend your day exploring the underwater corridors, or have a family picnic in an amazing setting, whilst enjoying the sun.
2. Hiiumaa Island
Hiiumaa Island, is the second largest island in Estonia, and is known for its romantic lighthouses, beautiful unspoilt nature, Hill of Crosses and a good sense of humour from its inhabitants. This island is one of the oldest in the world and perfect to be explored with a camper.
At Hiiumaa Island, you can enjoy the nature, go sailing or just relax in a post card -like scenery. During our rental season, there are a lot of local music festivals that are also worth visiting. Must-see sites and perfect places for iconic photographs, taking in Hiiumaa Island, are the lighthouses Kopu, Ristna and Tahkuna. For a touch of history, visit the Hill of Crosses that stands for those Estonia-Swedish people, who had to leave this beautiful island behind in its early days.
3. Saaremaa Island
Saaremaa Island is the largest in Estonia. In Kuressaare, the only town on the island, one can find the beautifull, well-restored castle, which is the only preserved castle from the Middle Age within the Baltic area. This island is all about thatched roofs, stone fences, homemade beer and still working windmills, which are the landmarks for Saaremaa. Saaremaa is also the perfect location for bird watching. The marine climate of the island creates a perfect setting for rich vegetation and fauna, thus it is a perfect spot for the hundreds of migratory birds using Saaremaa as their pitstop. Including Viidumäe's protectorate area and Vilsand's nature park, there are over 200 protected nature sites within the island.
Saaremaa is definitely a sight not to miss, when planning your camper rental holiday in Estonia.
4. Rakvere Castle
Your camper rental in Estonia must include a visit to Rakvere Castle. This Middle Age castle offers excitement and fun for the whole family, and is definitely worth a stop on your Estonian camper adventure. Here, you can try archery and shooting, as well as fighting with spears and swords! You also have a chance to try smithworks and make your own coin with the Rakvere Castle emblem. You can also join in making pottery like the old times. Travel in time to the Middle Ages and check out the street of red lamps, brothels and barber shops. In the actual castle, you can wander into the torture chamber and cellar, where they let you try Middle Age wines.
5. Tallinn Old Town
As a final stop on your camper rental in Estonia, we recommend spending some time in the Tallinn area. The old town of Tallinn is an exceptionally complete and well-preserved example of northern European cities from the 13th-16th centuries. The beautiful, medieval old town, with its narrow cobblestone streets, churches, monasteries, and tens of design shops, restaurants and cafe's is the perfect milieu for a wonderful day out. Tallinn's old town is pretty much shopping and culture in one package.
